It's a BMW ActiveE. It's a demonstration car that BMW leases out for three years. At the end of those years, BMW will take all of them off the road, and donate some to universities and museums (sound like the EV-1 a bit?). It's a fully electric car based off of their 1 series coupe, and it has a 168 hp electric motor powering it's rear wheels and giving it a range of about 94 miles. It's pretty much a test platform for the upcoming i3 and i8.

Kinja'd!!!

Performance specs: 0-60 in 8.5 second, top speed electronically limited to 87, and a perfect 50/50 weight distribution. The motor is integrated into the rear axle, and the battery pack is under the hood up front. Pretty neat little car, and nice to see something other than a Tesla plugged in up in Tesla neighborhood (this was spotted in Pleasanton just outside of Fremont, CA).
